Bengals Win Celebrate with Cincinnati Chili

The Cincinnati Bengals, defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-10 on Monday Night Football.  This is the first time since 2002 that the Steelers have fell 0-2.  Hopefully, Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the Steelers offense, can find their tempo by Sunday when they play the 2-0 Chicago Bears.

To celebrate the Bengals "W" though, we wanted to share our favorite chili recipe.  "Cincinnati Chili" from one of our fave spots, Hard Times Cafe.  Hard Times Cafe serves 4 different chilies, but Cincinnati happens to be our fave, for its sweet, yet distinctive flavor.

Check out the recipe courtesy of Hard Times Cafe:

You'll Need:
  •  2 lbs Regular grind beef
  • Water – enough to cover the meat
  • 1 2oz. bag of Hard Times spice mix
  • 1 15oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 6oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 Small onion, diced
  •  1 Tablespoon vinegar

Mix meat and water together and bring to a boil.
Mix in cup of spice mix (2oz. bag) once meat is thoroughly cooked.
Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, vinegar and onion. Mix thoroughly.
Cook uncovered for 30mins to one hour at medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Traditional Cincinnati chili has a soupy consistency.
Cook beans (pink, kidney or pinto) in separate pot and combine when serving.
(Beans are not included with spices). To be authentic, serve with oyster crackers in a side dish.

You can serve the chili by itself, or on top of spaghetti, a hot dog or cornbread.   The chili mix can be purchased at any SFW,  Hard Times CafĂ© locations or online.
